Can people please tell me which books they have in their possession please. At this point I am sure people don't care if you are hoarding or not. Just the safety of their books.

If people are at a loss as to where to send them next if you are getting no reply, I am sure the Australian section will happily draw in your books if you want to send them to one of us.

I had planned on a third, but my confidence was shot with this one— I think I was overly ambitious trying to tackle the Master and Margarita... I don't know. I am in love with the first one, not so much the second.

Hello artists,

In addition to being a participant in this exchange, I'll also be our friendly neighbourhood Exchange Moderator. What does this mean? From time to time I will be performing a pulse check to see how our progress is going. Now I know I am guilty of having Emma's book for ages. I hope to finish it this week and get it out, but I am wondering where the others are.

So who has whose books?
Are we continuing the exchange?
Do some of us want to bow out?

There is no shame in admitting we want to live our lives— Life should take precedence over exchanges, but communication is key to making sure everyone is happy and without worry. That being said, where is my book? Lisa, you have a few in your hands, yes?

So let's get organised. I really like this exchange and was showing off Emma's book to my students last week and their expressions of awe made me wonder why on earth I am stumped every time I put my pen to the book, and why we haven't had any movement lately. It would be a wonderful thing to complete these books, but if we are going to, let's do it in 2011? Is that reasonable?

This one was inspired by Rick Tulka whom I had the pleasure of meeting while I was in Paris recently. Check out his art gallery sketches.
And lastly...
So, now it is ready to send to Szaza in Istanbul. I posted a comment in the previous post suggesting I don't send it to her as my last one hasn't arrived and she has had trouble with mail from Australia on a previous occasion. Maybe I could send it to someone who lives in a country where the post is reliable to Turkey? Any suggestions as to what to do? I can't afford the $70 for insured and tracked shipping.

I don't know what it was, probably my month in Paris, but I just didn't realise that the missing book was posted by me. ME! I tell you this makes it far worse a feeling, though probably not as bad as the owners of the missing books. I'm off to the post office to follow up today.

I'm opening this up to suggestions. What if anything needs to be done?

This is a slow group (me included sorry). It's a big group, although it has shrunk quite a lot. I find it's confusing because of the shrinking. Here is my dreaded chart again. Can you please comment here to say whose book(s) you have so I can put a black "x" in the spot. This will help us to keep track of where our books are. THANK YOU!

Samantha's Circus

Really dragging my feet on this one, seems like the moleskine world is in a lethargic slump. And Im part of the problem.

But no more!

Samantha's moleskine seems to be one of the most cohesive Ive ever had my hands on. It feels like a story is underneath it all, a narrative pushing along throughout. At first I wanted to have the three main characters from Fellini's La Strada as my entries, but that just didnt come together. And instead, we went to the circus on the edge of the mind. I hope it works, I think it both hit and it missed.

News, I got it.

When I got home yesterday I found that Tau had returned both my and Katya's moleskines, along with a note. Tau writes:

Really sorry about holding up the group. We've had some health issues in the family and I just havent been online since then.

So, Its unfortunate about the health troubles and that she had to bow out; Fortunate that both moleskines are back, ready to recirculate, thank you Tau.

She had laid out 3 entries in my book, including a ballerina, a ninja and

the other 2 are in pencil and I encourage anyone who cares to to work on them as you see fit, and if not, I'll work on top of her framework at the end, when the book makes its way back to me.

The middle drawing (with the monster) the background is actually bright metallic pink but my scanner didn't pick it up. :-( I hope you like Lynne!.

Hey all, I know I have been waaayyy behind! But I'm finanlly done! I 'll be sending my book out on Monday, and I'm looking forward to getting a book soon. I hope everyone has had a wonderful holiday season and new years.

The theme of my book is tarot cards. I will be sending information with my book about them. I cant wait to see everyone's interpretation. Choose any card in the deck you want to illustrate, (and I don't mind duplicates) as these cards tend to pick you anyways. With tarot cards, there are certain elements that make up each card and the elements each have a meaning. I took the meanings and used them as my three words and when the book is completed, I'm hoping to have a nice little fortune book that I can open and pick my page for the day!

I had a very nice woman paint a portrait of me with the "totems" that she saw around me. These animal spirits are meant to guide and help us. Anyway, if you know your totems feel free to include yours... if you don't feel free to draw what you wish!!! :))

I'm so so excited about this swap, and I just know that everyone will be doing amazing things in my book. Just watching all of your books come together has been really inspiring!

So here's my book:

The front and back cover. Feathers just don't scan well! It really looks lovely in person.

This was the first spread I finished, and I love how the layers worked together. I did the word page a little bit differently, playing off of the typical bird identification book.

She was a TON of fun to do, and my family really loves her boldness.

This is the only bird I did that isn't made up. I thought the crossbill was such an unusual bird, though, that it would fit in well with my other fantasy fowl.

This is my signature page. I cut out enough eggs (that sit in the pocket at the back of the book) for everyone to write their info on! I think its a fun play on the pocket use.

Here's the template on each of the pages for you guys to use. You have **complete** liberty to work outside of the lines - I just hope having them there will help you know where the head meets the body meets the legs for future cutting. :)

I'll try to get this out in the mail in the next couple of days!

Well, firstly here's my cover. Now you can see why I'm asking you to add something to the cover as well. Such a dodgy job on the printing here! Please go crazy on it!
I decided to go with cards - actually that happens a lot to me...
I put my 2nd and 3rd pages randomly throughout the book. Put yours anywhere you like.
I had a bit of trouble with my white paint so I left it out in this one. I actually forgot to sign them - but it doesn't matter because it's me - and this made me think to say that I really want you to sign your drawings in the book, not just the sign-in page please.
My sign-in page is done like a library book. Please put your details on the card and add a date stamp and/or any thing you like to enhance it's borrowed-many-times look.
It's already in the mail to you Yoda!

Hey there,
I've been waiting forever for my moly..it came and it's not the right one! Which kind did we finally decide on? Is it the Moleskine Plain Cahier Journal..the last 16 pages re detachable (it's 64 pages)...or something else?

Also, in the instructions it says– Each artist will do 3 pages. The artwork is to be on the right hand page, with the back left for text etc....

I'm a little confused by the "back left"...it's just three spreads with the text on the left hand side and the images on the right, right?

I'm sorry for my confusion and I know you must have discussed this already, but one more thing! :) Do I need to count out the pages or do I just randomly decide where my three spreads will be? I'm assuming the first spread will be in the beginning of the book, skipping the first page?

Hello everyone,

First of all, wonderful work so far!
So normally I would have each artist write on the backs of their entries their names, when they completed their piece and what materials they used, along with a little something about themselves that they want to share. Since it seems as though this isn't possible in this exchange, I'd like to put little cards in the pocket of my Moly for this purpose. I figure since we are only doing one round, one card per artist will work. How does this sound to everyone? I will have a card for myself in there as an example. I also want everyone to sign their work, so years and years later I can look at the book and say, "Oh yes, this one is Lisa's and that's Emma's". I find what we are doing to be quite special, and I just like to have a little information about all the wonderful people that are a part of it :)

How many of you get notifications of new postings and comments...? I have put our addresses into the email box on settings.... its just that if we use the c box we don't get notification of comments. using the blog for our questions etc would keep everyone in touch.....and keep the blog lively. I have been looking through the older blogs, there are a lot dying through lack of communication, a couple havent even taken off at all :-(

Hello dear all.

I have this problem:

I counted the pages of my moly and I noticed there is one page less. Thing is, if I make my three drawings one of you will only have the chance to make 2 instead of three of yours. I don't mind making just two so all of you have the chance to make your three.

What do you all think about?

I am leaving them uncut ( for the moment ) I may change my mind, but I am concerned that after being through 13 hands they may get a bit fragile....what are every one elses thoughts on cutting?

About me – I am Russian but now live in Los Angeles. My English is not good enough because I am still learning. I will make mistakes – please have mercy. I am a potter and a printmaker. I like etching and linocut but now I take screen-printing classes at local college. We have very good screen printing program at Pasadena City College. We print T-shirts, posters, stickers, decals; sometimes I print directly in my moleskine. I am already in two Moleskine Exchange Groups(Moly_x_11 and Moly_x_17) and now sign for two more (“Exquisite Corpse” and “Monsters” exchanges).

I bought two new Moleskines for Moly-X-46(Japanese Album) and Moly-X-48(small sketchbook). I have printed both covers with my signature monster. And I also start to print Halloween monsters in my “Monsters”Moly.

Moly_x_48, founded by Jan Allsopp (Australia), is an extension of the Moleskine Exchange. This blog will follow the adventure of a group of 14 artists around the world, in a Moleskine sketchbook exchange. Our current group includes the artists listed to the right, including contributors in the US, Spain, Mexico and the UK. The theme is 'The Excquiste Corpse' and each page will be cut horizontally to create smaller pages that can interact with the other artists work when the pages are randomly turned.

Each artist will set off with a small Moleskine. Creating a drawing, collage, or painting, then send on to the next artist. Each artist will draw on 3 spreads (3 pages - see below) then send it on to the next artist. When the artists book is filled, it will be returned to the owner with images created by artists around the world. Each artist has a month (give or take) to make an entry. The outcome will be a pleasant and surprising adventure, as artists are encouraged to interact and merge their art with others.

The concept:

1. The artists start with the small Moleskine - Name, address, email address written in book. You may add a 'sign-in' page to the pocket. Please include instructions for the cutting of your book in the pocket also.

2. Each artist gets 1 month (give or take) to make a sketchbook entry, and mail it to the next person. The order is listed to the right -- for participants in this exchange, look at the list of names under MAILING ORDER. You will receive an address list via personal email from Jan. If you ever need to update addresses, please feel free to contact your partners directly! An important part of this project is to discuss and exchange information and ideas.

3. Each artist will do 3 pages. The artwork is to be on the right hand page, with the back left for text etc. After the artwork is completed the pages are cut as per instructions from the book owner.

4. Artists are encouraged to interact with other images in the book. Please be respectful, but also don't hesitate to meld your art with earlier entries.

5. When the book is full, the book will be sent back to its original owner. There is a single rotation in this exchange.

6. If a person decides not to continue, she should email all of the participants to say she is not going to continue. We will decide, then, if we want to find a new person.

7. Please communicate regularly via email. Let each person know that you have received/sent the book. The goal is to have a dialogue. Any comments and questions are welcome.
